Functions of a Chloroplast

A chloroplast is an organelle located in Eukaryotic plant cells in the Plastid group. It's bound to a double membrane. The chloroplast itself is divided into other parts aswell, as seen in the diagram below. The main function of a chloroplast is to carry out Photosynthesis ( a process in which light energy is converted into food for the plant, such as glucose.) They take in carbon dioxide, water, and light to create glucose, and gives off oxygen.
Photosynthesis Formula:
Light Energy + Carbon Dioxide + Water --> Carbohydrate + Oxygen
(The opposite of aerobic cellular respiration.)
